Singaporean man dies on Tigerair flight

bdmetronews desk  A 58-year-old Singaporean man, who was on his way home from Chiang Mai with his family of five, has died on a Tiger Airways plane, say Thai media reports.

According to Thai PBS, the plane made an “emergency landing” at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Tuesday (12 Jan) in a failed attempt to save his life. Flight TR 2177 had been flying to Singapore from Chiang Mai.

His Thai wife told airport officials that her husband had been suffering from a “chronic sickness”.

The report added that his body was taken to the Police General Hospital for an autopsy.

In response to queries from Yahoo Singapore, a Tiger Airways spokesman confirmed that Flight TR2177 was diverted to Bangkok Tuesday night as a passenger had collapsed on board.

She added, “The passenger, who eventually passed on, was travelling with family members. Our immediate concern is for these next of kin and we are doing what we can to assist them. The original flight continued back from Bangkok and landed safely in Singapore last evening with the rest of the passengers.”

The spokesman also clarified that it was a flight diversion rather than an emergency landing.
