Rumana Shahid, hailing from the esteemed Muslim family of Saratgupta Road, Narinda, Dhaka, epitomized a legacy of excellence and service during her tenure as a Senior Teacher at Willes Little Flower School & College until May 2023. Completing her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English Literature from the National University of Bangladesh in 1996, Rumana Shahid’s passion for education led her to Willes Little Flower School & College, Dhaka, Bangladesh, where she began her teaching career as an English teacher in 2001. Over the span of more than 22 years, she not only excelled as a Senior Teacher of English but also served as the Academic Coordinator of the esteemed institution. During her teaching career, Rumana Shahid successfully completed various professional degrees, including B.Ed and M.Ed, as well as certifications such as TKT, through different universities and international organizations. These qualifications equipped her to provide the best professional services to her students. Rumana Shahid is the daughter-in-law of Late Engineer Nurul Islam of Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola.
In her quest for continuous learning and to broaden her horizons, Rumana pursued further education, graduating with a Master’s in Public Administration from Gannon University, USA. This journey into public administration provided her with invaluable insights into nonprofit organizations, an area she developed a keen interest in.
During her time at Gannon University, Rumana undertook an internship as a Fundraising and Public Relations Manager at HerWILL Inc., Atlanta, USA, where she honed her skills in strategic planning and relationship building. Her academic prowess was recognized when one of her articles, “Enlightening Bangladesh: Navigating power sector challenges through PPP excellence,” was selected by the Department of Management of Science and Quantitative Methods, Gannon University, USA, and published in the International Journal of Infrastructure, Policy, and Development EnPress. Rumana’s scholarly contributions extended beyond borders, with over seven articles published in various international journals.
Currently, Rumana Shahid serves as a Business Analyst at Taskimcompetus Inc., New Orleans, LA, leveraging her expertise in strategic analysis and project management.
Outside her professional endeavors, Rumana is deeply committed to social causes, actively volunteering in organizations such as Open Hand Atlanta and YMCA Atlanta. Her passion for women’s empowerment led her to serve as the Woman Affairs Editor of Shikkhabarta.com, where she spearheaded various campaigns and social initiatives.
Rumana’s dedication to education and social welfare extends to her personal life as well. She and her husband, Md. Rashed Islam (Former Divisional Monitoring Officer of Primary Education Stipend Project) share a commitment to nurturing the next generation, exemplified by their son, currently a 12th-grade student in a public school in the USA.
