Ataturk Kamal Pasha
The 99th day of birth is an auspicious day that brings 98th anniversary of birth of lyric-poet Sabir Ahmed Chowdhury. He is well-known as Bengali language-defending fighter, freedom fighter, who also fought against the British to make free this Indo-Pak sub-continent from their colonial rule. He was born in the year of 1924 on 15th July in Norshingdi district. He obtained Sub and Overseer certificate from Ahsanullah Engineering School under Calcutta University in 1946. Soon the school upgraded as college when atonce he sat there for obtaining Diploma Certificate in Engineering. And, in 1948, after obtaining the certificate he joined as Assit-Sub Engineer in government’s C & B department.
But more matters were waiting when he started to defend as protestor in favour of Bengali language movement against the rulers of the then Pakistan. He was sacked from his job. Meanwhile he got married in 1952 and in 1954 leaving state job he established his own company, ‘Sabir Ahmed & Company’ and started to construct big and multi-lateral construction projects of the government. This time, under his own company he contracted MP hostel of Dhaka, lake, 2Nd Capital and many other big buildings of governmental projects.
In this busiest period of work he started to keep a link with the renowned writers and famous poets of the country and tried to contribute his enthusiastic propensity to literature. He also started to write poems and lyrical and mystic songs. He started to contribute new little magazines for the new promising writers to come. In addition to that he started to patron in establishing new primary and secondary schools so that our future generation will come to an education enlighten world. During these periods he has continuously went on writing lyrical poems which were tuned and were sang by various singers of West Bengal and of Bangladesh. He is well-known till today as the best lyrical-song writer where religion, caste, and colour is absent. In YouTube channel there are many songs written by Sabir Ahmed Chowdhury and were sang by many prominent singers of Bangladesh and West Bengal.
Sabir Ahmed Chowdhury also wrote 22 poetry Books. His main philosophy of poems and songs is to address a neutral nation where there will be no divide among mankind in question of caste, colour and religion.
When the liberation war started, he took part to it. He saved many persons life from the cruel and barbaric torture of the Pakistan army. He supplied secretly layouts of many government buildings and of cantonments to the freedom fighters. His total life is a dedication and donation to country and to nation. Today this sage is standing on 99th birthday and we are observing his 98th anniversary of birth. We pay our felicitation to this noble man.
