Nails are not alive , if they are dead then how do they grow? Actually new cells develop under your cuticles and push out the older , dead ones forming those flat hand surface.

Rub moisturizer into your nails and cuticles to take care of them. The more frequent you lubricant your nails and cuticles , the better they will be.
Practice good nail hygiene
If you have a habit of biting your nails or nibbling on your cuticles , avoid those habits for prettier healthier hands. Cutting cuticles could open the door to infection or irritation. Finally lead to nail problems such as ridges, white spots, or white line. Cuticles are are like a barrier or a protection for the nail matrix , to keep that protection strong , don’t cut your cuticles. Keep your nails short and clean , use a good nail clipper or a small nail scissors to cut them every week or two. If you rely on manicures or pedicures for healthy looking nails , keep a few things in mind. Avoid frequent manicures or pedicures. Make sure your nail technicians properly sterilizes all the tools used during your procedures to prevent the spread of infection.
Gloves are your friends
The chemicals you are using for cleaning dishes are very strong and can really damage your hands and your nails. Wear cotton lined rubber gloves when washing dishes, cleaning or using harsh chemicals .
Easy on nail polish and nail remover
Ladies love to paint their nails, but the nails and cuticles can dry out from nail polish and polish remover containing acetone. So experts recommend to use acetone free nail products.
Food for amazingly strong nails
Brittle cracked or discolored can be a indication of a lack of nutrients or even health problem. Eating a well balanced diet filled with protein vitamins and minerals keep your body healthy and can help you in achieving stronger nails. Oats, brown breads, sweet potatoes broccoli, carrot spinach, grapes are higher in antioxidants, biotin, iron these are key factors for increasing the production of protein for nail growth.
