Symposium for Bangladesh Textile Growth

bdmetronews Desk ॥ On September 5, 2019, a half day (2:30pm-6pm) stakeholder consultation entitled: “Symposium on Green Chemistry and Sustainable Chemical Management for Bangladesh Textile Growth” was organized by CEMS Global and “Environmental Sustainability in Textile Industries (ESTex),” Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB). Around 65 guests including environmental and chemical responsible executives, chemical importers, suppliers, textile industry professionals, policy makers, academicians and graduates students participated the event.

 

The talks included some key rudiments of chemical management, safety, and its basis on national and international regulations. Furthermore, the development of chemical safety and security culture incorporating environmentally sustainable chemicals, and future adoption of greener production options were discussed.

 

Textile Industry Top Management and National chemical safety and security Experts including Mr. Abdullah Al Maher ( CEO, Fakir Fashion Limited), Dr. Syeda Sultana Razia (Professor & Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET), Dr. MD. Easir Arafat Khan (Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET), and Md. Shahan Reza (Country Relations Manager, Bangladesh & Pakistan, Bluesign Technologies AG) graced the occasion as resource personnel.

 

The symposium was moderated by Dr. Mohidus Samad Khan, Project Manager, Environmental Sustainability in Textile Industries (ESTex), and Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, BUET.

 

Participants received registration materials and souvenirs at the inauguration of the event. They were rejoiced to join similar seminars and colloquials.
