Safety Road Equation-Equity

Belonging is very important for any target setting both globally, nationally and locally. Safe Road movement is moving on 5 targets kiss issues are:  i. Speed ii. Standard Helmet iii. Drink driving iv.Seat belt v. Child restrain.

Bottom lining mother Jahanara Kanchan’s accident happened in rural road at Chandanaish of Chattrogram micro bus-car collide in the year 1993 on 22 October. The 5 issues well set by the global activists mostly by the rich countries. We understand those who need of setting 5 issues are seriously justified on their own ground reality and experiences faced. Here in Bangladesh with these issues it is challenging to cope for us with our rural and urban transport users including employment seeker drivers community. Most drivers are from rural-based farmers fishers low income families, ignorant, illiterate, poverty hassled by vicious circle and social environmental inequity. These background reality we need to  repair, equalize & visualize to equate the whole plan for safety road movement. Bangladesh, NSC-Nirapad Sarak Chai is the important role player of the movement joining global arena keeping eyes and interest on local targeted  basic needs. Critical awareness building among this sector stakeholders is the key for understanding the developing countries’ poverty stricken people focusing drivers in and arriving mainly.

Training is vital for this deprived community-being resource full, energetic, self-oriented man power for this sector. NSC included women for the training on mentioned 5 key matters, presently running at Sundarban famed Khulna enrolling 100 women. Countrywide training, awareness raising and providing certificate programs are running round the year. NSC is always move tirelessly with the targeted community engaging field organizer-volunteers during national disaster, say last, Sylhet water flood coming from India and Covid-19 etc.

We want peace not pieces. Needs long term holistic approach with a generation of 20 years.  Poverty and peace can’t walk together. As an example: Minara with 2 kids of Doulatkhan of river eroded island Bhola district lost her driver husband by road accident. Under maternity allowance centered SAPNA-Social Assistants Program for Non-Asseters Package coverage, she got a rickshaw van (a non-motorized carrier) for income generation. Minara was one of the  SAPNA Maa top 10 Contesty participant. On inquiry of road safety demand pathfinder-a film star, keen as one of the judges, Ilias Kanchan sees Minara got the Rickshaw Van having no training, may causes accident. However, she is now self-sufficient by receiving holistic SAPNA package-dignified in the society. Can we accompany/tag with Training intervention resources-inputs-capital on job, loan as seed money as livelihood beginner  for ending Poverty and fulfilling SDG’s agenda number ONE. Our power-force of the safe road movement from Jahanara’s sad death-message is for all deprived to aware & stand on their own feet with equation and equity, centering God gifted bottom lining mother.

Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina increasingly enhancing the 5 basic rights:- i.Health card  ii. Education card iii. Housing iv. Livelihood inputs v. Environment plus  through national safety net cantering  maternity allowances. Daughter of Bangabandhu nationally recognized the safe road movement keeping the date 22, October fixed for ‘National Road Safe Day’ for wayforward of the country. Simultaneously foresighted ‘Mother’ Sheikh Hasina exercised and piloted SAPNA Package at 10 sub-districts aiming founding ending poverty.

We demand country wide expansion/coverage of Minara, Nandita of Tungipara and Salma of Mujibnagar example. NSC is always tirelessly think Globally, Plan Nationally & Act locally. enforcing laws too. How wonderful simile in between SAPNA Maa 5 & NSC’s 5 basics for working together. NSC & DORP is always For and With our State Leader, time to come.
