bdmetronews desk ॥ Indira Gandhi Culture Centre is organising an Evening of Nazrul Geeti by Dr. Pradip Kumar Nandi at 6.30 PM on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the IGCC, House No. 35, Road No. 24, Gulshan-1, Dhaka. The programme is being organised as part of the celebration of Birth Anniversary of National Poet of Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Dr. Pradip Kumar Nandi was baptized in music in his early childhood by his grandmother and encouraged to pursue his musical talent by his parents.
He completed his Master’s degree in Music with specialization in Nazrul Sangeet from the Department of Music, University of Dhaka with distinction (first class first) in 2000.
He has also completed a four-year certificate course in Nazrul Sangeet from Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts. He has also been a student of Chhayanaut. He completed his PhD on “Nazrul-er Gaan:Shurokar Proshongo” from Rajshahi University. He has also trained in music under prominent singers from Bangladesh and India such as Mr. Sudhin Das, Ms. Nilufar Yasmin, Mr. Khairul Anam Shakil, Mr. Khalid Hossain and Shri Biman Mukhopadhyay.
Dr. Nandi was the gold medalist in classical music category in the National Education Week in the years 1997 and 1998. He is a regular performer and enlisted artist of Bangladesh TV and Radio, as also of private television channels. He has released two Solo Albums the first being “Mridubhashini” by Laser Vision, Dhaka.
He has also written two books on Nazrul. He is the Head of the Department of Music at the Shanto Marium University of Creative Technology in Dhaka and also a part-time teacher of Nazrul Sangeet at Government Music College, Agargaon and Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts.
